History
The
Drum Call
program was developed by the OBey Foundation. The program was designed to function
as a mechanism to promote Afrikan cultural enrichment through
the use of Afrikan drums, dance, and song throughout the
NY-NJ-CT Tri-state area. After one year of programming in
community centers, after school programs, and camps, The Drum
Call program began to target youth categorized as "at risk" in
low-income communities. The program now focuses on, not only
Afrikan cultural enrichment, but also the prevention of crime,
violence, stress, and hyperactivity. With this added focus The
Drum Call program was able to implement music and dance therapy
exercises, activities and concepts into the sessions. |
