Moringa Project

Moringa Project

About 12 years ago I was introduced to the super food Moringa while in Ghana. I was so intrigued by the many functions and healing properties of this super food that I had our volunteers in Ghana plant some on the Ocean Breeze property. Those 4 Moringa trees stand tall and are a constant healthy presence. After years of promoting Moringa to friends and family, we decided to invest in farming the tree. We cleared 5 acres of 10 acres of farm land that we were granted years ago from the Chief of Brenu Akyinim. We planted our first Moringa seeds in the spring of 2018 and was harvesting our first crops by July 2018. We dried the leaves and pounded them into powder which we packaged and sent to the US for sale. Thankfully, Moringa has become a very popular dietary supplement so our powder sold out within a couple of weeks. As a result, we raised funds and built a farm processing building and cleared another 5 acres at the farm. We hired more farm workers and now we are managing 10 acres of Moringa trees. We have a plan to grow 5,000 trees per acre. 3-4 acres will be for seed harvesting and the remaining 6-7 acres will be for leaf powder production. We have received testimonials regarding the benefits of the Moringa that we have been cultivating and processing. Some experience bursts of energy. Some experience desirable weight loss. It has helped others to curb junk food habits. We have even heard that some have maintained healthy blood pressure after taking the Moringa on a regular basis. Moringa oleifera is a plant that has been praised for its health benefits for thousand of years. It is very rich in healthy antioxidants and bio active plant compounds. So far, scientists have only investigated a fraction of the many reputed health benefits.
